Board your Small Animals at Austin Guinea Pig Rescue
Please note: Boarding is available as space allows. When we are full, you can check with these vets for availability: White Rock Veterinary Hospital or Research Pet and Bird Hospital. If you want an in home petsitter, please contact www.austinpetsitters.org/.
Another pig source of income for AGPR is the money we make from boarding at our main rescue site. Current rates are $15 per animal per day and, if your critter stays for a whole week, you get seven days for the price of six ($90 per animal per week)! If you have two animals that need boarding and they're both in the same cage, the second animal boards for $5/day! We know how competitive these rates are, so we always welcome tips, which of course go towards the running of the rescue. Please inquire for fees for boarding three or more animals at a time.
For a small fee ($10 per animal), we can also give your pet a mani-pedi - make sure you ask about this service!
You will be asked to provide 50% of the cost of boarding when booking (non-refundable deposit), and the remainder 50% when dropping off your pet. All payments should be made online through Petstablished/Wagtopia (we'll provide you a link).
If your pet needs to be taken to the vet, additional charges will be incurred. An extra fee will also apply if your pet requires medication during his/her stay. We are able to give shots, subcutaneous fluids, and oral medications. You must provide the medications at the time you drop off the animal with instructions and arrangements for refills, if necessary.
The caretakers at AGPR have worked with guinea pigs and other small animals since 1993. We keep on hand Oxbow Cavy Cuisine guinea pig pellets, and Oxbow/Pet Select timothy hay, and a variety of veggies. We also provide cuddles and compliments ;)
To book your boarding, please make sure you complete a BOARDING CONTRACT FORM to let us know how we can contact you, and to tell us about your animal’s needs and typical behavior. Please also fill out the Emergency Veterinary Care Directive attached to the contract and bring both completed forms at the time you drop off your pet.
